Another idea that Cannon researched was astral projection.
The idea of astral projection is that a person can project an astral body, while the physical body remains behind. The two bodies are connected by a “silver cord.”
Jose Silva studied Cannon’s research on astral projection. Then he picked up where Cannon left off and expanded on the research.
Cannon attempted to prove that a person has an astral body and can project that astral body to various locations. Here is what he did:
Cannon worked with four subjects. In one room, he had a man and a woman. In another location, at a distant point, he had a man (let’s call him M), and in a third location, he had a woman (we will call her F).
He asked subjects M and F, who were each by themselves, to each project their astral body to the room where the man and woman were together, and to report what they saw.
The man, subject M, said that he saw three people: One man and two women.
The woman, Subject F, reported that she saw three people: Two men and one woman.
This, said Cannon, proved astral projection.
