Tennessee Ernie Ford, one of the most popular singers for several decades, was a wonderful story teller. This one comes from an album titled: "I love to tell the story, hymns from The Tennessee Ernie Ford ABC televison show:"
A story is told about a small boy who was trying very hard to lift a heavy stone. His father, noting his son's failure, said to him:
"Are you sure you're using all your strength?"
"Yes I am," said the boy.
The father replied: "No, no you're not. You haven't asked me to help."
Which only goes to prove that after the verb to love, to help is the most beautiful verb in all the world.
