During his studies, Jose Silva came across the name of a researcher in England named Alexander Cannon, who had studied such things as reincarnation and astral projection and had come to some conclusions.

Cannon found that when he age regressed people and took them back prior to their birth, they would claim to be another person.

Jose Silva had found the same thing in his investigation into reincarnation.

Both researchers found a three year waiting period from one “lifetime” to the next. What caught Silva’s attention is that he had found this to be true even before he learned about Cannon’s research.

But not everything checked out. In Cannon’s research, the subjects were sometimes males, sometimes females. They would tend to change every seven lifetimes.

In Jose Silva’s research, boys were always boys, and girls were always girls.

Silva had also learned during his research that people can use their minds right now to get information, information that existed in the past, information that exists in the present, and information that could exist in the future.

This provided an alternate explanation for reincarnation: Perhaps people were projecting their minds to the pas to get information about someone who lived then.

Dr. William Braud, a veteran parapsychology researcher who also served as a consultant to Jose Silva, offered an interesting thought when he was in Laredo to assist Jose Silva in teaching a special two week course.

In order to verify that the information that the regressed subject gave about the “past life,” there would need to be some record of this past life in existence today, Dr. Braud pointed out.

In other words, if you want to verify that a person died in a certain place on a certain date, you would look for a death certificate, a notice in a newspaper of the period, tombstones, or some other tangible evidence...evidence that exists today.

Most reincarnation researchers have considered such information to be verification that the regressed subject was actually reporting on the past life.

There have been times that regressed subjects described cities or villages where they claimed to have lived in a previous life. Upon investigation, the descriptions were found to be accurate.

Dr. Braud points out that the cities and villages exist today, just as the death certificates, old newspapers, and tombstones exist today.

And we know that you can learn to project your mind to any point or place on the planet to get information.

So the question is: Did the regressed subject get the information by projecting his or her mind to where the information exists today?

When you think about it, you might begin to wonder why the concept of reincarnation came into being in the first place.

At the time, people thought the earth was flat. They thought that the earth was at the center of the universe. They did not know that the stars were actually giant suns, many of them much larger than our own sun. They did not know that there could be other planets that might support life, or other dimensions that we might not be able to detect.

They did not know that there was any place except the earth that they were familiar with.

Since that time, of course, we have learned that the earth is round, that it is not at the center of the universe, that there are many more galaxies and solar systems and planets, and it is possible that some of these planets might be able to support life.

Just as explorers like Columbus expanded our knowledge about our planet, and astronomers like Copernicus and Galileo expanded our knowledge about the universe, researchers like Jose Silva and William Braud are expanding our knowledge and understanding of the mind and human potential.
